Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a city where dining options are divided into american fast food bars or fine expensive restaurants, Fogon emerges with an innovative and original proposal. It brings together two opposites: primitive cooking and fine dining; in order to create a new eating experience. The grill, located behind the bar, appears as the principal attraction, where chefs deliver a live show cooking over wood and charcoal in front of the guests. Smoked masterpieces aim to recover original cooking methods in a romantic yet strengthful way.
We were inspired by the british industrial revolution, particularly by elements such as coal and fire, but wanted to create a “modern” atmosphere. This can be seen in the mixing of classical london bricks with avant garde constructing techniques, vintage animal illustrations with contemporary photography and forthright contents with delicate and subtle graphic forms. We also created a bold, strong logo, (simple as the element of coal), that allowed as to play with mixed animal passing through, as a metaphor of meals being cooked over the grill. We choose earthlike colours to reinforce the pleasant and warm experience. The phrase “A culinary journey” can summarize the whole adventure, as welcoming voice inspiring us to discover new flavours and cooking techniques.
